Apostleship of the Sea (Liverpool) together with its ecumenical partner, The Mersey Mission to Seafarers, executes its charitable object through Liverpool Seafarers Centre, a registered charity wholly reliant upon voluntary contributions, is the Mission which delivers welfare to all active and retired Seafarers, within Merseyside and Cheshire. Ninety five of all goods and services consumed within the UK arrive by sea. Seafarers are the silent workforce who slip in and out of our ports often unnoticed. Without them this country will grind to a halt within three weeks.   Seafarers often work in dangerous conditions suffering loneliness, deprivation and even exploitation. Liverpool Seafarers Centre through its Ship Visitors and Honorary Chaplains welcome vulnerable merchant seafarers to our shores and provides for their pastoral and practical needs – regardless of creed or nationality. Catholic seafarers are also given the opportunity to receive the sacraments. Liverpool Seafarers Centre relies on valued parish contacts and volunteers to sustain its development.
