Shrewsbury ... shall be a name 'as stirring to the heart as the glories we have lost'

Catholic Associations

Lourdes Pilgrimage Association

The association was formed in 1951 at the initiative of Bishop Murphy. Its purpose is to organise the Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes which usually takes place at the end of July, and, through this, to promote devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes. The pilgrimage has grown in popularity in recent years with a particular emphasis on young people from all over the Diocese coming to offer their services to assist in the care of the sick and handicapped pilgrims. In 2015 the pilgrimage will be from July 28/29 to August 4/5. This will be the 65th Pilgrimage that the Diocese has organised and we look forward to many pilgrims old and new joining us. Travel will be either overland, departing July 28th, or by air, departing on July 29th. Booking forms will be available in the new year.
