The Chancellor has a number of functions providing information and advice to the Bishop and his diocesan curia on the effect of canon law on pastoral practice and acting as recorder to the diocesan curia particularly in matters of pastoral administration. By delegation from the Bishop, he deals with applications for dispensations and permissions, particularly touching on the administration of the sacraments.
Shrewsbury ... shall be a name 'as stirring to the heart as the glories we have lost'
