DIOCESAN HEALTH AND SAFETY

Property Manager: Peter O’Brien

Assistant: Jane Brady

Health and safety is dealt within the Diocese on a day to day basis at parish level and all parishes have access to the on-line Parish Health and Safety Guide developed in conjunction with our risk managers DE Ford. Each parish should have a Health and Safety Representative who will have the necessary links to the guide. This is a comprehensive guide that will assist on all levels of parish activity. There is also available a quick reference card “How Safe is Your Parish” which covers all the key elements of safety in a condensed form, copies of this can be obtained on request from the Curial Offices.

Parish representatives are updated from time to time on current health and safety issues and occasional training and information sessions are run to help with refreshing existing parish representative and the induction of new representatives.

During the course of 2011-12 a generic risk assessment form has been issued to all parishes which on completion should assist in the identification of any major areas of concern. Also made available were notes relating to actions to be taken in bad winter weather and risks to be covered at major services such as the Easter Vigil.

Procedures and guidance notes are up-dated on a regular basis and are distributed to the parish representatives via email.

If at anytime there is a query or a matter of concern relating to health and safety please contact either of the above at the Curial Offices
