RCIA or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the name given to the sacramental process by which people who are searching and exploring their faith in Jesus Christ, enter into full Communion with the Catholic Church. It is a journey in faith supported and encouraged by the whole Christian Community.
Many of our parishes offer the opportunity of joining an RCIA group. If you are searching for God, want to know more about the Catholic faith, or are seeking full Communion with the Catholic Church, please make contact with your local Catholic Parish who will make you very welcome.
RCIA in Shrewsbury Diocese is Coordinated by Father Christopher Matthews supported by the RCIA Core Group, whose members are experienced RCIA Catechists from across the Diocese, and Helen Jones at the Curial Offices.

A Rite of Sending:

The Rite of Election and the Call to Continuing Conversion is held annually in The Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Diocese, on the First Sunday of Lent. The Rite of Election is for those becoming new members of the church, and the Call to Continuing Conversion is for those who have already been baptised and now seek full Communion with the Catholic Church.
