Who is Sherry Weddell?
Sherry is a very inspiring speaker on the whole question of evangelisation. Part of her impact comes from the fact that she has many years of practical experience, having worked with many dioceses and parishes all over the world.

Why is she coming to Shrewsbury Diocese?
At Bishop Mark Davies’ invitation and in the context of parish renewal, Sherry will help us discover what it is to be a committed disciple of the Lord both in our personal and parish life, and in reaching out to evangelise others.

The day will include the celebration of the Eucharist with Bishop Mark.

Who is the day for?
Sherry will be speaking on two occasions. First, a day of reflection with members of the clergy.  Secondly, for everyone else, there will a meeting with Sherry on Saturday 12 May at St Ambrose College (see above for details). It is hoped that the day will helpful as the basis for further reflections in parishes. It would therefore be good if several people were to come from the same pastoral area.

How can I prepare for this event?
For a foretaste of her visit, please listen to the 8-minute video below, where you will see that Sherry’s presentation is both visionary and practical. Sherry herself has asked that, in preparation, people will have read her most recent publication: Fruitful Discipleship: Living the Mission of Jesus in the Church and the World (see below for details).

In 1993, Sherry Anne Weddell created the first ‘charism discernment process’ specifically designed for Catholics. In 1997, she co-founded theCatherine of Siena Instituteand currently serves as its Co-Director.

Sherry has developed numerous formation resources that are used around the world. She has trained and helped to lead an international team who have worked directly with over 100,000 lay, religious, and ordained members of the Church in hundreds of parishes, in 137 dioceses on 5 continents.

“As faith-filled Catholics, we are called to go out and spread the good news of the Gospel, build up the Church and fuel its mission. We are supernaturally empowered by God to do this through the charisms we receive at Baptism. Learn about each charism, what they are, and how discipleship unleashes these powerful gifts to produce fruit that lasts.”
