Catechetical Institute

Catechetical Institute – FREE WORKSHOPS

The Diocese of Shrewsbury has partnered with the Franciscan Catechetical Institute of Steubenville University (FCI). The Institute was established and is directed by Dr Petroc Willey who has vast experience in catechesis and distance learning methodology. Originally a parishioner from the Shrewsbury Diocese Dr Willey moved to Steubenville in 2014 to set up the Institute.

We have put together specific courses or ‘Tracks’ for our Diocese to which every parishioner can have free access to. We offer mentoring, that is, accompanying individuals and parish groups as they make their way through their chosen tracks. The Tracks range from basic foundations in faith and particular aspects of faith to specific formation for various lay ministries including catechists. Within the latter there are various specialisms available such as for sacramental preparation (sacraments of initiation and reconciliation) RCIA, RCIC, catechists for youth ministry and catechists for the sacrament of marriage.
