Dear Parishioners, A message from the Bishop to be published for Sunday 7th September 2025.
Dear Parishioners,
A MESSAGE FROM THE BISHOP
To be published for Sunday 7th September 2025
The Terminally Ill (End of Life) Bill will go to the House of Lords this coming Friday, 12th September. Thanks to your efforts in writing and meeting with MPs, and that of many thousands across the country, this Bill goes in the weakened state having seen an enormous collapse in support in the House of Commons.
The euthanasia lobby remains well-funded and organised and will not give up in its efforts to breach the legal protection of the sick and aged which has been in place since the beginning of Christian England. I ask you to consider writing to members of the House of Lords, echoing the clear and respectful appeal already made to your local Member of Parliament.
Let us pray in the week ahead and especially on Friday 12th September when the Church celebrates the Most Holy Name of Mary, that this insidious threat to some of the most vulnerable will finally be averted.
United with you in this prayer and in witness to the Gospel of Life,
+ Mark, Bishop of Shrewsbury
