Administration

The team running diocesan finance, property, HR and central operations from the Curial Offices in Prenton.

Mission & Evangelisation

Helping parishes proclaim the Gospel. Formation, OCIA, evangelisation training and parish mission support.

Education

Twelve local authorities, 112 schools, 43,000 children. The Education Department supports all Catholic school in the diocese.

Safeguarding

Protecting children and adults at risk. The Safeguarding Office is on 0151 652 9855 or safeguarding@dioceseofshrewsbury.org.

Chancery

The Chancery handles canonical matters, dispensations, faculties and the official archives of the diocese.

Schools Singing Programme

Building a tradition of fine sacred music in our schools. Training children and teachers to sing the liturgy well.

Christian Unity & Dialogue

Working with other Christian communities across the diocese in prayer, witness and shared service.

Vocations

The team accompanying men and women asking what God is calling them to.

Communications

Telling the diocesan story. Press, social media, website, newsletters and parish support.

Worship

Supporting the liturgical life of the diocese. Sacred music, the Ordo, the Chrism Mass and the celebration of the sacraments.

Marriage Tribunal

The diocesan court that hears nullity cases for those whose marriages have ended in civil divorce.

Youth Mission Team

Working with young people in our parishes and schools. Retreats, missions, school chaplaincy and the Stockport hub.

Lourdes Pilgrimage

Each summer the Diocese of Shrewsbury makes a pilgrimage to Lourdes. The 75th annual pilgrimage runs 31 July to 6 August 2026.

Our Bishop

Bishop Mark Davies, eleventh Bishop of Shrewsbury, has led the diocese since 2010 with a ministry rooted in the Eucharist and vocations.

Our History

The Diocese of Shrewsbury was born in 1851 with 26 priests and 20,000 Catholics. This is the story of the 175 years since.
