We announce with sadness the death of Father Paul O’Grady, who died peacefully on Friday 30 January 2026. May he rest in peace.

Reception of the Body

Sunday 22 February 2026, 7.00pm at St Werburgh’s Church, Birkenhead

Requiem Mass

Monday 23 February 2026, 12.00 noon at St Werburgh’s Church, Birkenhead. The Requiem Mass for Father Paul will be celebrated by Bishop Mark.

Burial

Following the Requiem Mass, Father Paul’s mortal remains will be interred at Southern Cemetery, Manchester.

Father Paul O’Grady (1955–2026)

Father Paul O’Grady died in his 70th year and the 43rd year of his Sacred Priesthood. He was born on 15 March 1955 and baptised in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland. In 1977 he began his priestly formation at St Mary’s College, Oscott, and was ordained on 10 December 1983 at Holy Family Church, Sale Moor.

Father Paul served in many appointments across the Diocese including Cathedral Parish, English Martyrs in Wallasey, St Theresa’s in Blacon, St Anthony’s in Woodhouse Park, St Peter’s in Stalybridge, St Paul’s in Hyde, Holy Spirit in Halton Brook, St Saviour’s in Great Sutton, and St Winefride’s in Neston.

Father Paul retired due to ill health in June 2021. He was admitted to Arrowe Park General Hospital on Monday 26 January 2026 and died peacefully on Friday 30 January 2026. May he rest in peace.
