Tradition dictates that each jubilee is proclaimed through a papal bull of indiction, which is a document written in Latin that bears the seal of the pope. For the Jubilee Year 2025 The papal bull was proclaimed on the 9th of May 2024, by Pope Francis titled “Spes Non Confudit,” meaning “Hope Does Not Disappoint,” and it declared that the Jubilee Year will officially begin with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on Christmas Eve 2024. The 2025 Jubilee will officially conclude with the closing of the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica on Jan. 6, 2026, on the solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord.
